Core TMS Group Training

Description
This intensive three-day course introduces new users to the basic application functions of TMS. The focus is on cataloguing individual objects, inputting crucial information pertaining to the objects, navigating through modules, and searching on records/data. This is a hands-on class; participants are provided with their own fully configured workstation to use during the class sessions. The March class will be conducted in TMS 935;  the May class will be conducted in TMS 2010.

Audience
This course is appropriate for all TMS users: Registrars, Curators, Educators, Archivists, support staff, and all who use TMS on a regular basis, or who rely on TMS to access or input data, or report on collection information. 

Prerequisites
This course assumes that the student has little or no familiarity with TMS; however, it also benefits more experienced users who have never received formal TMS training and wish to expand their use of TMS or learn additional functionality.

CI 2010 Special Training Sessions

This year, in conjunction with Collective Imagination (April 28-29, 2010) in NYC, we are offering several special training sessions -- on the Monday and Tuesday before the conference, and on the Friday after. There are sessions for all, from beginners to advanced users: The Basics of TMS; TMS 2010 New Features; The Basics of Crystal Reports; Advanced Crystal Reports for TMS; SQL for TMS; and List View and Data Views for TMS. Also, back by popular demand, demand, Eliza Lanzi, Director of the Imaging Center at Smith College, and co-author of “Cataloguing Cultural Objects: A Guide to Describing Works and their Images” (American Library Association, 2006) will present  "CCO for TMS."  

TMS 2010 New Features

Learn how to use the new functionality of TMS 2010 in this full-day course. Experience with previous versions of TMS is strongly recommended. 

Introduction to SQL

Structured Query Language (SQL) is the query workhorse behind every TMS search, and can be used to manage data at the database level. Learning the fundamentals of SQL will help you design better Listviews, help you understand why Crystal Reports behaves the way it does, and give you tools to make global modifications to data where appropriate. This half-day course is appropriate for technically advanced users.

Listviews and Dataviews

TMS uses Listviews and Dataviews throughout the application to display and export data. This half-day course teaches the fundamentals of designing Listviews and Dataviews.

CCO for TMS

Join Elisa Lanzi, co-author of "Cataloging Cultural Objects: A Guide to Describing Cultural Works and Their Images," will repeat her popular one-day introduction to CCO. This full-day course is useful for anyone interested in standards-based museum cataloguing.

Advanced Crystal Reports for TMS

This full-day class is designed for the experienced CR user who wants to learn new techniques for designing sophisticated Crystal Reports.

Crystal Reports Group Training

Description
This two-day beginner/intermediate level course covers the core functionality of Crystal Reports XI and its use as a reporting tool in conjunction with TMS. Students will learn to use the TMS data structure as a basis for designing custom reports on objects, exhibitions, loans, and constituents. The March class will be conducted in TMS 935;  the May class will be conducted in TMS 2010.

Audience
This course is typically attended by staff members who are responsible for creating custom reports for TMS users, or for advanced users who wish to design their own custom reports.

Prerequisites
This course assumes that the student is already familiar with basic TMS functionality, either through daily use of TMS or by having completed the TMS training course at Gallery Systems.

EmbARK Fundamentals & System Administration Training

Description
This course addresses the fundamentals of EmbARK and covers system set up and configuration, conducting system back-ups, running EmbARK/4D Tools, troubleshooting and more. A good introduction to EmbARK for new users and an excellent refresher for those who want to acquire new skills.

Description
This intensive, one-day course covers the new features of TMS 2010 with a focus on Objects, Exhibitions, Loans, and Shipping. The training is conducted online; you can connect remotely to the training and follow along in your own TMS database. Even if you have not yet upgraded to TMS 2010, attending this class will better prepare you for the upgrade project.
 
Audience
This course is appropriate for experienced TMS users. If you are a new TMS user, it is recommended that you first attend our three-day Core TMS Application Training (a group course held in our NYC office). For more information, contact training@gallerysystems.com.
