Jay Hoffman, President and Chief
Executive Officer
Jay is a highly respected authority on museum
and collections management information systems.
As the architect of The Museum System (TMS),
Jay has been working on the development, implementation
and support of collections management applications
for museums and galleries for more than 20 years.
Formerly with Arthur Andersen & Co. and
Reliance Group Holdings, New York, Jay founded
Gallery Systems to address the information management
needs of the cultural sector in 1981. Jay has
been directly involved in information projects
at the Smithsonian Institution, the J. Paul
Getty Museum, the Museum of Modern Art, the
National Gallery London and many other museums.
He is also active in international standards
organizations for improving information access
and interchange among museums.
Ethan Kalfus, Director – Information Technology
With over 20 years of experience in the full development life-cycle of business applications in media, financial services, and insurance industry segments, Ethan brings a breadth of management and technical expertise. His background includes leadership roles with enterprise-wide projects involving application and database architecture, development, business analysis, project management, and mentoring of development staff. Having extensive experience in the development and management of international software applications for companies such as UBS, Morgan Stanley, and Time, Inc., Ethan extends Gallery Systems’ management team in financial and media sectors as well. Ethan is a graduate of New York University concentrating in Computer Science and Psychology.
Robb Detlefs, Director - Product Management
Joining Gallery Systems in 1996, Robb is a guiding force and strategic decision maker for the company’s products and services. With a master's degree in Library and Information Science from San Jose State University, Robb brings valuable knowledge of diverse database management systems to the company; his expertise plays a key role in enhancing the end user interface of the applications. Having served as the leading architect of the EmbARK product line, Robb has integrated numerous new features that allow EmbARK users to complete a wide range of complex projects. Moving forward, Robb will expand his reach to the next generation of Gallery Systems products.
Danielle Uchitelle, Director - Client Services
Danielle has worked for over 25 years in academic and nonprofit administration and has over 10 years of museum experience, including 7 years at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum. She has also served as a long-term consultant for the Whitney Museum and the Cooper-Hewitt Museum. At Gallery Systems, Danielle is responsible for managing client support, training, documentation, and custom services. In addition to her professional background in museum administration, Danielle holds an MBA degree from New York University and an MLIS degree from Columbia University, and has pursued post-graduate coursework in Computer Science at the University of Chicago.
